Can you use the seeds from a rose for planting?

I have been given roses that are hybrids. I would love to grown some, but am unsure if I can use the seeds from the rose itself to plant.

Can you use the seeds from a rose for planting?
I actually have seedlings from rose seeds right now - about 3 weeks old seedlings. I got the fruit from a mature rose plant last year. Dried it for months, opened it the fruit just right after winter and took out the seeds. However, I think I wont get the same variety of rose from the seed - I;m not really sure. I am hoping that when it flowers, it'll be the single layer petal rose with fragrant smell. So good luck.

I saw these websites about rose propagation: http://www.scvrs.homestead.com/Hybridize...

Reply:i believe most roses are grown on the root stems of certain breeds of roses which, say for example grow to a short height or fan out for a better display. if you grow them from seed you will get the same flower but not the same growing pattern
Reply:i think roses dont give seeds very easily ,you should only use cuttings to grow them.
