How deep rooted are rose bushes and rose vines?
It really depends on the age of the rose bush ~ When I'm moving my rose bushes, I usually have to dig down anywhere between 12-18 inches which seems to capture most of the roots. Start your digging about 12" away from the trunk ~ and first cut a circle in the soil around the trunk before trying to work your way beneath the root system.

If you are moving the rose bushes, this method of digging will leave you with a nice root ball which will help reduce transplant shock.
